Many families and children in Pakistan go to bed hungry because there is not enough food at home. The Itaam Project is Quba Foundation’s food relief project, providing free meals to children, families, students, and others who need food. The project runs every week, with meals distributed at different spots across Lahore.
What Is the Itaam Project?
Itaam means feeding. Quba Foundation Itaam focuses on people who cannot always afford regular meals, especially orphans, underprivileged children, and families facing food insecurity. Food is prepared with care, and people receiving a meal are treated with respect.
We have worked with communities across Pakistan for 15 years. Through our free meal program Pakistan, meals are arranged weekly. During Ramadan, food is distributed daily at Iftar.
Itaam Initiatives: Ways Quba Foundation Feeds People
Sufra (Dastar Khuwan)
Sufra Dastar Khuwan is a cooked meal prepared for several people. One Sufra costs PKR 15,000. A meal donation Pakistan through Sufra pays for the food served at the table. It can be arranged for families and others who need a cooked meal.
Happy Meal
Happy Meal donation costs PKR 350 for one child. The meals go to children in orphanages and to children whose families are struggling with food costs. The PKR 350 covers one child’s meal. Families or donors who want to sponsor a meal for orphans can pay for one child’s food or cover meals for several children at the same time.
Iftar Al Saim
A meal costs PKR 300 per person. During Ramadan, food is distributed daily at Iftar for people who may not have enough at home. Meals are prepared before the fast ends, ready for people to eat at Iftar. One contribution can cover one person’s meal, while a larger amount can provide meals for several people.
Fidya for Fasting
The amount is PKR 4,000. It goes toward meals for people in need during Ramadan. Project details may change from year to year, so check the current information before making the payment. Meals are prepared and shared with local people who need food during Ramadan at Iftar time each day.
Masjid Nabvi Iftar
Masjid Nabvi Iftar is arranged in Madinah during Ramadan. Meals are served to people there when it is time to break the fast. Food is prepared before Iftar begins. This is separate from the food distributed in Pakistan. Details may change each Ramadan, so check the latest information before donating.
Sadaqah Daig
Daig Donation is a way to provide cooked food for several people at once. It can be given as Sadaqah, Shukrana, or for Isal-e-Sawab. After the food is distributed, a dua is made for the donor with the intention of sending the Sawaab to them. Pictures and videos are also shared as proof that the donation was carried out.
Who Receives the Meals?
Food reaches orphans, underprivileged children, students, families short of food, and people who need meals during Ramadan. A child may receive an individual meal, while Sufra and daig meals serve groups.
Low wages, illness, lost work, or an unexpected bill can leave little money for groceries. These programs help feed the poor Pakistan communities when household food money runs short.
The Virtue of Feeding the Hungry in Islam
Feeding a hungry person has an important place in Islam. The Quran mentions feeding the needy, the orphan, and the captive for the sake of Allah (Surah Al-Insan 76:8–9). A meal may seem small, but to someone who has not eaten properly that day, it meets an immediate need.
Charity does not have to begin with a large amount. One person may pay for one meal. Another may have enough to feed a whole group. In both cases, food reaches someone who needs it.
Sharing food becomes especially important during Ramadan. Providing Iftar allows a fasting person to break the fast with a prepared meal, which matters when money for food is tight.
The need continues after Ramadan. Families still have groceries to buy, and children living in orphanages still need breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the year.
No one should feel embarrassed about accepting a meal. Good preparation, decent portions, and considerate serving all matter. Charity is not only about handing something over. The person receiving it deserves to be treated with dignity, whether the meal came from one small donation or a much larger contribution made for many people at once.
Itaam as Sadaqah Jariyah
Those who donate food monthly Pakistan can give regularly instead of making a separate payment each time.
Sadaqah Jariyah food refers to charity with a continuing benefit, so every meal should not automatically be described in the same way. A daig can also be arranged for a parent, relative, or loved one, including for Isal-e-Sawab.
Real Impact: Meals Served and Lives Touched
More than 146,000 Sufra meals, 43,000 Happy Meals, and 36,000 Iftar meals have been recorded. The Masjid Nabvi program has also arranged more than 300 Iftars. Each figure comes from a different meal program, including children’s meals, Sufra, and Ramadan Iftars.
How to Donate to the Itaam Project
Choose the meal first: Sufra, Happy Meal, Iftar, Fidya, or Daig.
For anyone asking how much does it cost to feed a person in Pakistan, a child’s meal is PKR 350 and a Ramadan meal is PKR 300 per person. Sufra is PKR 15,000, while Fidya is PKR 4,000.
The donation can then be made through the website.
